EPC compliance is changing as the Government seeks to meet its net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The framework for this is set out by the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEES) and the Government is proposing the following compliance timescale:
- April 2023 – a minimum EPC rating of E will apply to all commercial tenancies1
- April 2025 – 2027 – a minimum EPC rating of C will apply with a 2-year compliance window2
- April 2030 – a minimum EPC rating of B will apply to all commercial properties2
